Tu B’Shevat Tree Treats for Kids

tree activity

Celebrate the “New Year for Trees” with a tree-themed treat! The Jewish holiday Tu B’Shevat is a time to appreciate nature. If you’re looking for a way to mark the day with your child. check out these easy-to-make foodie favorites — and they’re all shaped like trees!

Fruit Tree

Make your own fruit tree. Instead of growing one from a seed, piece together your own tree on a plate. Slice fruit into different sizes and shapes. Line up thin strawberry slices vertically to make a tree trunk and add kiwi cubes as leaves. Or make rows of blueberries (as a trunk) and top off the tree with green apple wedges.

Pretzel Perfection

Coat the top of a thick pretzel rod with peanut butter. Now you have something to stick cut grape “leaves” or another favorite fruit onto, making a slim tree.

Delicious Dessert

Help the kids make a Tu B’Shevat treat with chocolate and ice cream. Use a plate or shallow bowl as a backdrop for this edible tree art activity. Make a trunk from chocolate squares or chocolate shavings. Add small-sized scoops of green mint ice cream as leaves. Let the kids top the tree with cherries, berries or anything else they want (within reason, of course).
